Golf course

Historic inn owned by the same family since 1782, with contemporary rooms, dining & 2 golf courses.

Had an amazing meal from the veganuary menu tonight. Amazing service, lovely food, and really good wheelchair accessibility for a venue like this. Really good allergy awareness too, can't speak highly enough! Definitely a great place for gluten free options: apparently the owner is gluten free, so you can trust the menu. Will definitely be back if there are good vegan options on the regular menu after January!

My daughter and I had a night at the Bell Inn and played the Forest Course. The Inn is great. Staff were very helpful, dinner was excellent, breakfast was awesome and our room was beautiful. The Forest Course is spectacular and a truly unique golf experience. Our room was huge, with really comfortable beds and a very clean and well equipped bathroom. The shower was hot and powerful which is always good. The toiletries were great, there was an iron and hairdryer and a massive TV. It was a great room to relax in after a day of golf.My daughter is vegetarian and the veggie breakfast was brilliant. I had the steak and wine deal, and we both agreed the chips were probably the best we've ever had.Nothing to complain about at all. The location is great and easy to get to from the motorway. A fantastic night away for both of us that we will always remember.

This was such a lovely afternoon tea. The staff were all lovely and attentive and nothing was a bother for them. They had a wedding going on at the same time but in no way did this impact our visit. The cakes, sandwiches and scones were delicious and the value for money was great as there were so many different sweet treats (compared to other places we have had afternoon tea at). I would definitely recommend!

Had my recent wedding here, and Eva, the manager and wedding coordinator, helped us and walked us through everything in the planning of the wedding. Extremely helpful, kind and knowledgeable when it came to planning. During the wedding, the staff were outstanding! quick, helpful and friendly. My now husband and I didn't have to worry about a thing as they did everything. The rooms are beautiful and comfortable, my husband and I had the Bridal Suite (room 12) which was perfect as it gave the most natural light, plenty of room for our photographer, hairstylist, myself, mother and maid-of-honour.Breakfast was brought to our room the day of and the day after the wedding, and the Wedding breakfast was cooked to perfection! If you want a rustic, romantic, relaxed and friendly wedding, I recommend booking with The bell Inn as they were outstanding. Equally if you are just looking for a wonderful place to stay to visit the New Forest and surrounding area, I highly recommend The Bell Inn for a great location, as it is just off the M27.

Our go to place for breakfasts. Would go more often but it's a bit of a drive. Delicious food and great service. Very friendly place. We love it there. Can't comment on the rooms because we've never stayed over.

We, as a family, have just spent the most amazing weekend at the Bell Inn for our daughter’s wedding. From the time we arrived on Saturday the staff were friendly, attentive and professional. The room was well equipped, clean and very comfortable. The food was amazing and the service great. Throughout the weekend everything we asked for when we booked were carried out and provided to a high standard. I cannot thank all the staff at the Bell Inn for making this such an enjoyable and memorable celebration. You all deserve five stars.

This is a lovely hotel. The service we received from the staff was really lovely. We especially want to thank, ‘Addy, Evie, Molly and Alex’ (apologies if I misspelled anybody’s names). They all were friendly, helpful and worked very hard to give us the best service :).The cooked breakfast was very nice but some improvements with the continental part of the breakfast are needed. Our room was nice. The cleaning of the bathroom could be improved but apart from that we found it to be comfortable and we had all of the things that we needed during our stay. The hotels garden is very nice to sit out in and sometimes you may even see a sheep or two poking their heads in.It’s a lovely location and it’s very easy to get around the area, whether that be by car or bicycle. We would definitely stay at The Bell Inn again but next time we will choose a larger room.P.s. It would be great if some bicycle parking hoops could be installed, so we can securely lock our bikes up in a designated place.

I took my husband here for a massage and afternoon tea. The pub itself is nice - comfortable and sunny. Our massage was in a separate building, and we were not given the option to use any of the gym facilities. Our massage was okay. The lady was lovely but seemed to be learning the trade as opposed to the 5* experience we were expecting. Our afternoon tea was very good with a huge amount of food. At £30 a head, we were expecting great things. When it was delivered to us, we weren't told what was on the tray, so we had to guess. We could only eat the sandwiches and massive scone and took the rest home. Honestly, I think it would have been better to have slightly less and pay slightly less, too. We can't eat six pieces of cake each in one sitting! Per person we had: carrot cake, two scones, Jamaica ginger cake, lemon cake and some sort of tiffin. Overall, we had a nice time but would not return for the price paid.

A warning to disabled potential clients...My wheelchair-bound husband and I booked a disabled-friendly room for a few days to celebrate his birthday. We clarified our mobility situation multiple times via emails and phone conversations. Upon arrival, we discovered that the room only catered to certain types of mobility issues. Please bear in mind: if you are unable to walk - i.e. if you need to wheel yourself to the shower and use a commode - you will be better off staying at home rather than booking this place. We were obviously shocked when we arrived, so we challenged the receptionist about the room being advertised as disabled-friendly. In response, the receptionist pointed to the golf fields nearby and explained that their 'disabled' clientele consisted mainly of elderly gentlemen playing golf and having difficulties walking. There was absolutely no way another place or hotel could be found for us at the time, especially that we travelled with four dogs (hence we'd booked this place months in advance based on the offer we received).Be assured that nothing, not least the 'have a drink on us' that was offered, can make up for the effort and energy spent preparing for such a trip and having to go back home straight away. This is especially true if you deal with severe disabilities.Honestly, it's best to stick to places you have already tried, but if you are still trying to find some suitable spots for your vacations, make sure to ask the hotel staff to send you the picture of the bathroom and the whole layout, despite of what the hotel is saying in their offer.

Stayed for 2 nights, really sweet building, very peaceful and a classic New Forest Inn! Food is really good, happy to see tasty vegetarian options on the menu! The continental breakfast was lovely but not many options, but they were happy to bring us some toast & other things from the breakfast menu. The room was spacious, big double bed and shower, one thing to note however, there wasn't a fridge in our room (which wasn't an issue, we just assumed there would be and had some things that needed to be kept chilled) Overall would definitely come back, thank you ☺️

Excellent evening enjoying the Gin tasting with a talented Jazz singer. Would recommend the bell for great food staff very efficient. Most of all the Atmosphere was fabulous for a evening out with family.

We came for dinner after a day of walking in the forest. The food is great. We both had the ribeye steak, one medium, one medium-well and it was cooked perfectly, with a flame grilled flavour.Katie, who served us was absolutely fantastic and made us feel very welcome as though we were one of the guests, even though she knew we were just passing through.Would definitely come back again!

Came here for afternoon tea and it was amazing! Due to my intolerance, I had the gluten free option and the jam and cream sponge cake was one of the best GF cakes I've ever tried! It was so light and fluffy! It's very good value for money and we had plenty leftover to take home and enjoy later. Would highly recommend it here!

I really enjoyed the peace and quiet of this place. The hotel was lovely and very clean. The staff were welcoming and friendly. The food was great too! I’d definitely recommend this for a little getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city.

Sorry! Forgot to change the PC logon before posting!! Two ladies, not FHSC!!We went to The Bell Inn after being gifted an Afternoon Tea (via Virgin Experience Days). Wow, I love an afternoon tea, and quite honestly, this was one of the best I think I have ever had.Fantastic quality offering, the scones especially were served warm, and no scrimping on the clotted cream! To be honest.. too much for us, with filling sandwiches, 2 scones and 4x decent sized cake slices per person. Confess.. we took some home! The bar area itself was really cosy and the perfect setting too.We will most definitely be back.

Myself, Barry my husband and our puppy Deano stayed here for our nieces wedding, wow what an experience absolutely brilliant, all staff was very professional, polite and so friendly from the time we walked in on the Saturday till the time we left on the Monday. The food was lovely, the room we had was very nice and clean. We will definitely recommend and we will return.

The room we stayed in was nice enough, except it looked like our bathroom was marked for redecorating as it had patches of paint and marks on the walls. Some of the fixtures in the bathroom were broken or bodged together. The bedroom was nice and well decorated.Location is nice, but being on a main road means it’s a little noisy, but nothing they can do about that. Now, the food. For the price you’d expect something really quite delicious. It’s presented well, but that’s where the luxury stops. It’s bland, really bland. I had fish and chips which I know you can’t expect to blow your socks off, but for £19 you could at least expect a bit more flavour than just fish. You can see dill in the batter but if that’s been fried it’ll turn bitter and the chips have no seasoning at all so all you’re getting is bland potato. The tartare sauce and pea purée were a small saving grace, but overall it’s just about worth half of the price you pay.Dessert was no better. Sticky toffee pudding should have something about it, maybe some dates or pecans with a rich, thick toffee sauce? Instead what you get is a cooked from frozen (which you can tell by the fact it’s hard in the middle) with a thin almost nonexistent sauce and a tiny scoop of rum & raisin ice cream. Not worth £9 when a Tesco microwave one for £3 is better.Apart from the massively over priced food, the service staff were nice enough, although didn’t come to ask how our food was.The best bit about the stay was the surrounding area, lovely woods and country pubs.

We had a wonderful time at the Inn, after a last minute booking. Shirley and all of the staff are wonderful and extremely dog friendly! The room was exceptionally cosy and we had a wonderful night’s rest. It was the perfect way to spend our weekend, thank you!
