I ordered this on NYD when I had tipped from overweight to obese and was the heaviest I have ever been. It is due to arrive tomorrow and now I'm having a wobble. Does anyone regret taking it?

Not Wegovy, but I started Ozempic in August and it’s the best thing I’ve ever done.
Whats making you wobble, OP? Anything specific that you’d like to chat through?

No. I lost nearly 2 stone with it last year, slowly and effortlessly. No side effects apart from one week where I had unpleasant sulphur burps, and having to get used to less frequent bowel movements, as everything slows down.
I've got used to eating less frequently, and feeling fuller quickly. I worked up to 0,5mg dose, which for some people works and for others doesn't seem to do anything. I got the unpleasant burps when going from 0.5 straight up to 1mg so I counted the clicks on the pen to find a mid-point and take a 0.75 dose. Which gets an extra dose or two out of the (very expensive) pen each time.
My only concern is what will happen when I stop taking it, but it is like any other dieting method. If you haven't learnt anything from changing your habits that stuck, then you are likely to put weight back on.

Hi - my first ever mumsnet post!
I started Wegovy last week, have found this website so helpful - took 0.25 injection didn’t hurt at all, a tiny bit of nausea over first two days but no other side effects, second jab tomorrow. For first 4 days I just didn’t feel that hungry esp for snacks (unheard of) but it’s starting to wear off now (which I only noticed when i realised i was eating a chocolate biscuit yesterday!!) so looking forward to new injection and seeing if that changes.
question for you if you don’t mind? I’m buying it through Health Express and have ordered my next two pens together to save money, 0.5 and 1.0 and now having read mumsnet I’m worried I’m going up through pens too quickly, lots of people advocate staying on 0.5 because side effects increase - so if I could regulate dose of 1 pen to 0.75 would def try that, is that a Wegovy pen you used and stopped mid click? Don’t mind throwing away a little if it makes the extra dose more manageable? Did you just stop pressing the end when you reached the mid click and remove it? Have only injected once and the dial rolled quite quickly on the 0.25 back to 0?
wishing you both all the best with the journey, for reference I started at 12.7 stone with a BMI of around 30.9 would like to get to around 11 stone and weigh in tomorrow but have lost about 4lbs on my first week but some of that will just be post Christmas weight loss after too much food!!

Pebble2ITY - you count the clicks on the way up not on the way down. You can do it with Wegovy pens but don’t use the Ozempic click charts as the concentrations are different. I think it’s safest to count the clicks and work it out yourself. You can dial back down once you have counted clicks for a full dose.
dancinginthewind - I don’t regret my 18 months of Ozempic followed by Wegovy. I lost about 10 kg. I did have the occasional morning vomiting episode especially after increasing the dose but that was quite rare. I did feel a bit sick before my morning cup of tea sometimes. I had sulphur burps twice during the time (once I am putting down to accidentally freezing my pen in a dodgy fridge and once when I went up to 1.7mg). Generally it just made me get full more quickly so I ate less. I had to still be disciplined with the junk food which I was sometimes - when I would lose weight steadily- and not other times when I would maintain.
So not a fast loss and lots of maintaining over the time but overall much better than if I hadn’t been on it. I am taking a break at the moment after a long period of maintenance, side effects when increasing to 1.7mg (I did only try that for one week so didn’t give it a chance to settle to be honest) and also to see what effect stopping has on my mental health. I am in the perimenopause and started estrogen before Ozempic but wonder if the semaglutide was making my anxiety worse. It will also be interesting to see what happens to my weight without it. So far and combined with Christmas it isn’t looking good but I am getting back into the healthy eating again and hoping to turn that around.

Why am I wobbling?
I guess part of it is the whole messaging around being overweight & weightloss. Will I be considered a better person if I lose weight through diet & exercise rather than "cheating" by taking a pill which is only available to the relatively affluent? I can get around that by telling myself that I have spent three years trying to get back to a healthy BMI but have moved to an obese BMI instead so clearly diet isn't working.
Another part is concern about side effects. I have an almost full time quite stressful largely office based job with a 45 min commute each way and a lot of meetings and then spend the evenings taxiing the DC to activities. I can't have diarrhoea! Nor do I really have the time to deal with feeling lethargic or nauseous. Whilst I am obese, I do do a fair amount of exercise but that is the first time to go when I run out of time. I think I'd rather be fat but fit than stop going to the gym as I'm feeling too tired or been battling nausea. Of course, if it works, then doing all of these things but 1 or 2 stone lighter would make them all easier.
Finally, I think it's the fact that it's relatively untested worries me, both for the unexpected long term risk and the what happens when I stop taking it aspect.

It’s not about being a better person. Being overweight is not a moral failing. It is our genes and environment. We don’t judge people for taking drugs to help with other conditions.
You might be tired or have diarrhoea but you might not and the side effects are too much you can stop. Most people don’t have bad side effects on 0.25 mg as it is such a small dose (but some do).
It is well tested or it wouldn’t be approved for use but the tests do show that people tend to gain weight back when they stop taking it - same as all the other diets out there I am afraid. But that doesn’t mean that we should stop trying.

@dancinginthewind it isn't cheating. It is using a tool that will help you reach your goal. Secondly, it isn't a magic tool, you still have to do the work.
FWIW, I haven't had the runs, but I have felt a little 'back logged'. I have a very busy life (primary school teacher and large young family at home), and it hasn't impacted on me. I'm only on my second month but so far so good...
of course everyone reacts differently, but you don't know until you try.
Good luck! 🤞

It doesn’t matter how you lose weight what method. I don’t regret it but I don’t regret that I stopped taking it either. I didn’t want to end up relying on it and I did feel not my best self whilst taking it but it wasn’t that bad

Hi - may I ask for how long you took it? and when did you stop?
How much weight did you lose?
Thank you

@dancinginthewind Have you started taking it yet? I have ordered my first .25 pen but also having a wobble so I’d be interested to hear how you are finding it.

About 2 stone I took it from April to August. It does work but I want to do this on my own now. The side effects were frustrating when I was trying to feel/be healthy and I didn’t feel as good as I wanted to. I feel good now. I am still losing weight just more slowly
Nootkah · 10/01/2024 19:17
No regrets at all. Started end of September. 12kg lost so far. It's remarkable. I also felt a bit lime I was cheating, but my clothes are getting too big now and I don't care about that so much any more.
dancinginthewind · 10/01/2024 20:34
@Oohyoudaftbat - no! It only arrived yesterday though. I've got a busy few days so am going to wait for a quieter patch to start in case it does have any side effects

@dancinginthewind How have you got on? I wouldn't dare try this method of weight loss but fascinated by the threads.
Yololivelaughlove · 15/05/2024 13:59
Hi there, just wondering how you got on? I'm thinking of starting Wegovy and have so many questions! Are the side effect as bad as i am hearing? Being sick all the time and sh*tting ya pants constantly? :/
Also, may i ask where everyone has got there's from and what's the most cost effect route? I've been quoted £240 a PEN!? I'm still researching how everything works but i thought it was one injection a week? If so i am clearly barking up the wrong tree as there's no way i could afford that :(
Any advice you could give would be really appreciated.
Thanks so much!

Re the pens, they have 4 doses per pen. I would have started (Mounjaro) sooner had I known it wasn't that much per week!
Mayhemmumma · 15/05/2024 15:44
Made me feel really sick - was actually sick twice.
I also found it quickly wore off for me and I still felt hungry - maybe because I eat more when nauseas. I took a gap and put all weight back on, I re started and still felt ill.
Very expensive sickness

Where did you get your's from pls?
